Court fixes hearing of Sen. Ndume Bail Application, after 3 days in Kuje Prison

Senator ALI NDUME will Thursday, November 26, 2020, know whether he will be released from the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja after he must have spent his third night there.

Senator NDUME’s release would depend on the strength of his argument in the bail application filed by his lawyers, which he fixed for hearing tomorrow.

Senator NDUME was remanded in the correctional centre on the orders of Justice OKON ABANG after ABDULRASHEED MAINA whom he offered to serve as guarantor jumped bail.

MAINA is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged two-billion-naira money laundering while serving as chairman of the disbanded Presidential Task Team on Pension Reform.

Recall that Justice ABANG last week issued a bench warrant for the arrest of MAINA, and also revoked the bail granted to his son, FAISAL, who is also standing trial for a separate allegation of fraud.

The Federal High Court has also rejected an application by MAINA’s lawyer, ADEMOLA ADEDIPE, to withdraw from the case.
