Court hears how Lagos scholarship scribe diverted N127M

The Lagos State Special Offences Court has heard how a former Secretary of the State Scholarship Board, Stephen Oshinowo, allegedly diverted the sum of one hundred and twenty-seven million naira.

The revelation was made by an investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Monday Moley, after Oshinowo was arraigned on an amended eight counts on criminal conversion of public funds.

Moley claimed that Oshinowo used his personal bank account to commit the alleged fraud, including receiving the transfer of thirty million naira in three separate transactions from the ban account of the Board.

However; Oshinowo pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him, but his lawyer, Lawal Pedro, opposed the request of the Prosecution to submit his statement to the court.

Pedro argued that the statement was obtained from his client under physical and emotional torture.
