CP Odumosu sets up new special squad to enforce okada ban

The Lagos State Police Command has stepped up enforcement of the ban on Okada riders in six local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has also set up a special squad for the enforcement, in addition to the work already being done by the Lagos State Government Environmental and Special Offence team, also known as the Taskforce.

C.P. Odumosu charged the new Police Special Squad to go out and make massive arrest of Okada operators who violate the restriction order and seize their motorcycles.

The decision was the outcome of a meeting between the Commission of Police and Area Commanders, Heads of Departments and Tactical Commanders.

Meanwhile; when operatives attached to the Special Squad went out yesterday, they seized more than seventy motorcycles in some parts of Lagos, including Apongbon, Lekki, Maroko, Obalande and Victoria Island.

The Special Squad also raided some black spots around Somolu, and arrested seven suspected cultists, while twelve suspected cultists were arrested in Bariga with dangerous weapons and Indian Hemp.
