Armed herdsmen have killed at least sixteen people in an attack in some communities in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Some residents of the communities said they were taken unawares, as they had been living peacefully with the herders before they suddenly decided to move out recently.
Governor Dave Umahi has visited the affected communities and confirmed that the attack was carried out by herdsmen, and that fifteen people were killed.
Governor Dave Umahi said he was disappointed and sadden by the attack, and promised to work with other higher authorities to identify and punish those who did it.
