Escaped Chibok girls not in military custody; CDS

The Nigerian Military says it is not aware of the escape of some of the Chibok schoolgirls who were kidnaped by terrorists in April, 2014.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Major General LUCKY IRABOR, said no escaped Chibok girl is in the custody of Nigeria’s military.

Major General IRABOR made this known in reaction to reports over the weekend that an undisclosed number of the abducted schoolgirls had escaped and rejoined their families after nearly seven years.

The news broke days after the appointment of the new Service Chiefs, and just before their first official visit to Maiduguri, Borno State, to inspect the military operation against terrorist groups in the Northeast.
