Federal Government suspends fuel subsidy removal

The Federal Government has dropped its plan to remove petrol subsidy and increase the pump price by June this year.

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, said the decision was taken after another review the economic situation in the country.

Zainab Ahmed made this known during a meeting with the President of the Nigerian Senate at the National Assembly in Abuja.

She said although the 2022 Budget only provided for petrol subsidy for six months, government would look for funds to sustain the payment beyond June this year.
