FG faults Nigeria’s corruption perception rating

The Federal Government has again disagreed with the latest report of Transparency International, which scored Nigeria twenty-five-over-one-hundred on its Corruption Perception Index.

Transparency’s Corruption Perception Index also indicates that Nigeria lost one point from its twenty-six points in last year’s rating.

The 2020 report shows that Nigeria is at one hundred and forty-nine position, out of one hundred and eighty countries; which is three steps lower than the country’s rating for 2019.

However; the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the TI rating is unfair and unacceptable, as it does not show the gains that the government had made in the fight against corruption.
