FIFA extends ban on Blatter, Valcke

The International Federation of Association Football, FIFA, has extended the ban on its former president SEPP BLATTER for six years.

FIFA also extended the ban on its former secretary-general JEROME VALCKE by eight months.

Both BLATTER and VALCKE were sanctioned in relation to the receipt of huge bonuses for the hosting of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

FIFA’s Ethics Committee said in a statement that both men also extraordinary bonuses in connection to the Confederations Cup tournament in Brazil, while BLATTER was in charge for seventeen years.

The Ethics Committee said the new bans will only come into force when the current bans on BLATTER and VALCKE end in October this year and October 2025.
