Gov. Wike charges Navy on Oil Bunkering

The Governor of Rivers State, NYESOM WIKE, has challenged the Nigerian Navy to end oil bunkering in the Niger Delta.

Governor WIKE said oil bunkering affects the social and economic development of the country, and should not be allowed to continue.

WIKE made the call when he received participants of the Naval Warfare College Course Four, who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House in Port Harcourt.

He appealed to the Federal Government to implement the report that would be submitted by the Course participants at the end of their study tour.

Meanwhile; the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigerian Navy have agreed to review their strategies against criminals operating in the maritime sector.

This was announced when the EFCC’s Zonal Head in Lagos, ABDULRASHEEED BAWA, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Navy Ship, NSS BEECROFT, at Apapa, Commodore IBRAHIM ALIYU SHETIMA.

BAWA said the EFCC had the mandate to prosecute suspects for illegal dealings in petroleum products and other maritime-related crimes and it has lived up to its expectations.

On his part; Commodore SHETIMA said he was impressed by the progress the EFCC had made on the prosecution of maritime-related offenders.
