Governor Lalong relaxes curfew in troubled parts of Plateau State

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has relaxed the curfew imposed on Jos North, Jos South, and Bassa by twelve hours.

Instead of the initial twenty-four hours, the curfew in Jos North will now last from 6PM to 6AM daily, until further notice.

Also, the curfew imposed in Jos South and Bassa has been further reduced, and will now last from 10PM to 6AM, until further notice.

Governor Lalong announced the changes in a state broadcast earlier today, from the Government House in the state capital, Jos.

Meanwhile; the Nigerian Military has advised the people of Plateau State against taking the law into their hands in trying to defend themselves against attacks.

The Commander of Operation Safe Haven special task force issues the warning following calls by some prominent citizens to people of the affected areas to defend themselves.

In a statement by the Media Officer of Operation Safe Haven, Ishaku Takwa, the military noted that such calls would worsen the security challenges in the state.

Recall that Plateau State had been the centre of violent clashes, with deaths recorded in Jos North, Bassa, Riyom, and Barkin Ladi local government areas.
