Governors Ikpeazu, Ortom, Ishiaku speak out against security crisis fueled by armed herdsmen

The security crisis involving armed herdsmen in different parts of the country continues to generate reactions among Nigerian leaders.

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, said it appears that those behind the crisis want to use violence to create strongholds for themselves.

Governor Ikpeazu also revealed that the Abia State Government has been paying one hundred thousand naira for every cow that is killed in clashes between herdsmen and villagers.

The Governor, who spoke in a television interview earlier today, suggested the use of technology to deal with the herdsmen and banditry crisis in the country.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu also faulted the use of palliatives as a means to solve the problem of unemployment in Nigeria.

In a related development, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has blamed the Federal Government for the herdsmen crisis.

Governor Ortom demanded to know why the government has refused to take action against the group that represents cattle herders in the country.

At a separate event in Taraba State; Governor Darius Ishiaku said if government cannot protect citizens, it should allow everyone to own a gun.
