Hoodlums attack INEC Hqtrs, police station in Anambra

Gunmen have attacked the Anambra State secretariat of the Independent National Electoral Commission in state capital, Awka.

A store house containing about fifty electricity generators, among other INEC equipment, as well as seven Toyota Hilux vans, were burned down.

The State Commissioner of Police, Chris Owolabi, confirmed that the hoodlums first tried to attack the Police ‘B’ Division Police Station, before moving to attack the INEC secretariat.

C.P. Owolabi, who led some journalist to inspect the two locations, said no policeman was killed in both the attack on the Police Station and the INEC secretariat.

He also confirmed the recovery of eight AK-47 rifles and Pump Acting Guns, as well as ammunition and clothing, from the hoodlums.

On his part; the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Anambra State, Nwachukwu Orji, confirmed that six vehicles were destroyed in the attack by the hoodlums.
