ICJ to investigate Russia for genocide in Ukraine

The International Court of Justice has fixed March 7, 2022 to begin hearing on allegations of genocide in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The ICJ, which is an organ of the United Nations and sits in The Hague, Netherlands, is to investigate complaint lodged by Ukraine against Russia.

In a statement; the ICJ said the hearings will be devoted to the request for the indication of provisional measures submitted by Ukraine.

Meanwhile; the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, had earlier announced an investigation on the situation in Ukraine.

Khan said there was a reasonable basis to believe that both alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity have been committed in Ukraine since 2014.
