The Independent National Electoral Commission has added fifty-six thousand, eight hundred and seventy-two new polling units across the country.
The additional polling units put the total number at one hundred and seventy-six thousand, eight hundred and forty-six.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, said the expansion was undertaken to guarantee free access to polling units during elections.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu further explained that seven hundred and forty-nine polling units were carved out from private properties, palaces and worship centres.
