Insecurity: US Secretary of State holds virtual talks with President Buhari

• Speaker hints about something new

A meeting is expected to hold today between President Muhammadu Buhari and the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.

The meeting, which is to hold virtually, would be the first by the US Secretary of State in Africa, since President Joe Biden took office in January.

The spokesman for the US Secretary of State, Ned Price said the discussion with President BUHARI would focus on ways to strengthen democratic governance, security, and promote economic ties.

Price also noted that Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, would also be involved in the virtual meeting.

Meanwhile; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, says the Federal Government is working out something to deal with the problem of insecurity in the country.

Speaker Gbajabiamila gave this indication after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja, during which they discussed the security situation in the country.

After the meeting, Gbajabiamila told State House correspondents that the President listens to ideas and is interested in finding solutions to the crises in various parts of the country.
