Kanu’s lawyer demands 50 million naira from DSS

The case involving the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has taken a new turn, as his lawyer has dragged the Department of State Security to court.

Maxwell Opara, who is a member of Kanu’s legal team, claims that the DSS violated his fundamental human right, according to the case he filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Opara alleged that the DSS violated his right during one of his visits to Nnamdi Kanu, who is being detained by the secret police agency.

He is claiming fifty million naira in damages from the DSS for allegedly violating his right to dignity of the human person.

Maxwell Opara also wants the court to order the DSS and its Director General to make a written apology to him, that would be published in two national newspapers.
