Kenya condemns Russian intervention in Ukraine

Kenya’s ambassador at the UN Security Council, Martin Kimani, has condemned Russia’s decision to send troops to Ukraine’s breakaway regions of Donetsk and Luhansk and to recognise them as independent states.

Kimani’s comments signal a marked change from Kenya’s previous position at the UN Security Council when it abstained from voting.

Gabon and Ghana who are also Non-Permanent Members of the UN Security Council also condemned Russia’s actions against Ukraine.
