Kenya’s Supreme Court stops constitutional changes

Kenya’s Supreme Court has stopped an attempt by President Uhuru Kenyatta to make some major changes to the country’s constitution.

The proposed constitutional changes include the introduction of the position of prime minister, through what the government called Building Bridges Initiative.

However; the Supreme Court judges said the president acted unlawfully, and that such changes should have been led by citizens and not a sitting head of state.
