Kogi Prison Break: 2 guards killed, 2 missing, 240 inmates escape

The Federal Government has confirmed that two security operatives were killed in the attack by gunmen at the Kabba Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kogi State.

Also, two officers of the Nigeria Correctional Service have not been seen since the attack happened at about midnight last Sunday.

These revelations were made by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, according to a statement by the spokesperson for the ministry, Sola Fasure.

The statement quoted Aregbesola saying that thirty-five security operatives, including soldiers, policemen and armed prison guards, were on duty when the attack happened.

The Minister also confirmed that that there were two hundred and ninety-four inmates at the Kabba Custodial facility at the time of the jailbreak, but only twenty-eight did not escape.

However; the Interior Minister said some of the inmates who escaped have returned on their own, just as he promised that others who are still on the run would be captured.
