Lagos launches 5-year Food Sufficiency Roadmap

The Lagos State Government has launched a five-year-food sufficiency programme, which is partly in response to the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the government expects up to ten billion US dollars investments from public and private sectors, as well as donor agencies to drive the food programme in the next five years.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was speaking at the launch ceremony, promised that government would connect private sector players to business-friendly credit facilities and also give them incentives.

As part of measures to achieve the goal, Sanwo-Olu said his administration would reposition the Agricultural Land Holding Authority to drive investment the sector.

He said the Lagos State Government is working with states in the North Central part of the country for land availability, just as he called on other states in the South-West to do same.
