The Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress has welcomed plans by the State Government to scrap the life pension for former governors and deputy governors.
State NLC Chairman, AGNES FUNMI SESSI, says it will be nice for the same action to be extended to other parts of the country, as it will to reduce the cost of governance in Nigeria.
SESSI, who spoke in a telephone interview with Lasgidi FM News Desk, said only in Nigeria where political office holders enjoy everything for free.
The Lagos NLC Chairperson said if political office holders in the country are placed on salary like civil servants, politicians would no longer be desperate for power.
