Lagos Sars panel summons IGP over land dispute

The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for victims of abuses by SARS returned to work today and took a decision to summon the Inspector General of Police.

The Panel wants IGP Mohammed Adamu to appear in connection to a petition by seventy-six-year-old Adewale Adewuyi.

The petitioner claimed that the police seized his twenty-six acres of farmland, located at Age-Mowo, near Badagry, since 2013.

The petitioner’s lawyer, Debo Adeleke, told the Panel that his client suffered health challenge due to the action of the police, and can no longer feed himself.

Adeleke said a Federal High Court had in 2017 ordered the police to release the farmland and pay damages for physical assault on his client, but the police had refused.
