Lagos State Government celebrates New Year babies

The Lagos State government has celebrated babies who were born at the turn of the new year, 2022.

The Lady State First Lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, visited the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital in Marina where three babies were born few minutes into the new year.

Lasgidi Fm Najite Atirene reports that the first baby of the year is a boy – Abiodun Layemi, who was born at 12:10am.

The Temitayo family also welcomed a baby boy at 12:50am, while the first baby girl of the year is Momoreoluwa Yusuf, who was born at 1:13am.

Speaking with our correspondent, the mothers expressed the joy at the birth of their babies, and the treatment they received.

Also speaking; the wife of Lagos State Governor, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu encouraged mothers to patronize local medical facilities rather than travelling abroad to give birth.

On his part; the Medical Director of the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, Doctor Olufemi Omololu, stated that the hospital recorded low maternal deaths in 2021.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Health, Professor Akin Abayomi and the Chairman, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Doctor Adebayo Aderiye accompanied the first lady on her visit to the hospital.
