The Lagos State government is to introduce a new daily levy of eight hundred naira for all transporters in the state, beginning from February 1, 2022.
This new levy, which is to be paid to the state government once a day at any location within Lagos, is different from charges imposed on transporters by the various unions at different locations.
The Commissioner of Finance, Rabiu Olowo, made the announcement at a meeting with transport stakeholders in the state.
Olowo said the levy will help to take care of charges usually imposed by local council authorities, the Lagos Waste Management Authority, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, and the Lagos State Inland Revenue Service.
