Lagosians kick against passage of new anti-cultism bill

The passage of the Unlawful Societies and Cultism Prohibition Bill by the Lagos State House of Assembly is not going down well with some residents of the state.

This is because the bill provides that parents whose children are convicted for their involvement in cultism should also be punished.

The State Assembly is yet to send the bill to Governor BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU for him to sign it into law.

However; some residents of Lagos have said it was not right for parents of convicted cultists to be punished for the wrongdoing of their children.

Those who spoke with Lasgidi FM’s Chukwuemeka Obioma said it was not possible for parents to know what their children are doing at all times.

Also speaking, a legal practitioner, Muhein Abudulfatai, said that if the new anti-cultism bill is signed into law by the Lagos State Governor, it should be challenged in court.
