Late Fela Kuti nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honour

Late afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti has been nominated for the 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The late afrobeat legend was nominated alongside international artistes like JAY-Z, Mary J. Blige, Tina Turner, LL Cool J and Chaka Khan.

The Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, John Skyles, described the list of nominees as remarkable, adding that it shows the diversity and depth of the artists and music the group celebrates.

To determine the winner; fans are allowed to vote for up to five nominees daily, until April 30, 2021, while the winner would be announced in May 202.

The announcement will fall on the day of the 36th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which would take place in the US city of Cleveland, Ohio.
