Long queues in Lagos filling stations traced to contaminated fuel

Long queues of vehicles noticed at some petrol filing stations in Lagos have been traced to a bad product supplied from the petrol depot.

The vehicle queues were most common at petrol filling stations of some major distributors around Lagos Island and Lekki areas of Lagos.

Informed sources said the Premium Motor Spirit imported by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation contain a high level of Sulphur.

Our source said marketers who were supplied with the contaminated petrol have been advised to stop selling to motorists.

Before the explanation was provided, Lasgidi FM’s correspondents monitored the situation and report that most filing stations on the mainland were selling at the normal prices.

At one of the petro filling stations around Coker-Aguda, the Manager, Hafeez Abdulsalam, confirmed that there was no petrol scarcity.

He said the only problem they were having was at the depot, which he said was slowing down the distribution petrol to marketers.

Another petrol station manager, Hamzat Abayomi, also told our man that because of the delay at the depot, they were not sure of their next supply of petrol.

Meanwhile, residents of Coker-Aguda are set to receive increased attention on security and education in the area this year.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Coker-Aguda Local Council Development Area, Ibrahim Olalekan.

He told Lasgidi FM’s Chukwuemeka Obioma in an interview that this year’s budget would also focus on healthcare and youth development.

Olalekan also called for the support of residents of Coker-Aguda towards ensuring that the Council’s development programmes succeed.
