Middle-Belt backs Southern Governors on 2023 presidency, PIB

The resolutions reached at the meeting of the Southern Governors Forum in Lagos State has received the support of political leaders in the Middle Belt.

These include the demand for the next president of Nigeria to come from the southern part of the country, and the rejection of the Petroleum Industry Bill passed by the National Assembly last week.

A member of the House of Representatives, Mark Gbilah, who is from Benue State, said to elect the next president from the South will give all Nigerians a sense of belonging.

Representative Ghilah, who shared his views during an interview on a television programme, said people in the Middle Belt also welcome the demand for state police.

Speaking further, Representatives Mark Gbilah condemned the allocations for host communities and frontier basin exploration in the Petroleum Industry Bill.
