Navy discovers 700,000 litres of stolen oil on vessel

Officers of the Nigerian Navy have intercepted a vessel and arrested twenty suspected crude oil thieves in Akassa, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The Commander, NNS SOROH, Commodore Patrick Effah, who made this known at a news conference in Yenagoa, said all the suspects including five collaborators were Nigerians.

He said following the arrest, the vessel was found to be carrying seven hundred thousand litres of crude oil which is worth about one hundred and forty-eight million naira without the necessary approval for such cargo.
