Nigerian Army denies helping bandits to commit crimes

The Nigerian Army has denied that soldiers are helping bandits to commit crimes against Nigerians and the nation.

The Army’s denial is in response to accusations by controversial cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi, who has been acting as the spokesman for armed bandits.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, declared in a statement that the Nigerian Army remains a symbol of national unity.

During an interview on a television programme yesterday, Shiek Ahmad Gumi expressed his frustration that the Federal Government had failed to negotiate and offer jobs and welfare package for the bandits.
