No vaccination, PCR test; no entry at social events, as LASG issues new guidelines

… Sets 30% vaccination target

The Lagos State Government has set a new target of thirty percent for Covid-19 vaccination within twelve months.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says he has mandated the Lagos State Ministry of Health to administer eight million doses of vaccines to four million residents by Christmas Day, December 25, 2021.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also said over the next couple of days, the State Government would release policies for the uptake of vaccines to achieve desirable herd immunity.

Sanwo-Olu also announced new guidelines for social events and gatherings during the festive period, which include that all social events must be duly registered for Event Safety Clearance from the Lagos State Safety Commission.

He said where possible, events should be held outdoors, with occupancy limit not exceeding sixty percent of the maximum design capacity of an event centre.

The Governor said guests for all social gathering must present their vaccination cards or digital bar code page showing at least first dose.

For those who have not received the vaccination, Governor Sanwo-Olu  said they would be required to show a negative PCR test obtained within seventy-two hours.

He said despite your vaccination status; everybody attending social events must be subjected to Rapid Diagnostic Test to be conducted at the event venue or within twenty-four hours before the event at designated laboratories.

Furthermore; the Governor said guests and service providers at such event, who are found to have high temperature of above thirty-seven point degrees are to be politely turned back and referred to paramedics or the emergency response team on ground.

He said all guests and service providers at events must wear a nose mask or face shield before entry, and also wash their hands before entering the venue or use hand sanitizers.
