The Lagos State Polytechnic is now officially known as the Lagos State University of Technology, Ikorodu.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Gboyega Akosile, said the National Universities Commission has approved the new university.
He said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was in Abuja to receive the NUC certificate of approval for the new university.
The Lagos State University of Technology, with campuses in Ikorodu, Isolo, and Surulere, is one of two new universities approved by the Lagos State Government.
The other new institution is the Lagos State University of Education, with campuses at Ijanikin and Epe.
