The Ogun State government has launched its own version of the Western Security Network, also known as Operation Amotekun.
This comes more than a year after the Ogun State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps Law was signed on March 24, 2020.
The State Government also unveiled several patrol vans and motorcycles to boost the operations of the Amotekun Corps.
Governor Dapo Abiodun performed the ceremony in the state capital, Abeokuta, during which he also named Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, as Super Marshal of Operation Amotekun.
Governor Abiodun said the launch of Operation Amoteku in the state had become necessary to check the wave insecurity being witnessed in the state.
In his remarks; Professor Wole Soyinka advised the Amotekun Corps to operate within the provisions of the law.
