Ondo Sars Panel recommends N755.7M compensation for victims of police brutality

The Ondo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on SARS has recommended the payment of seven hundred and fifty-five point seven million naira in compensation to victims of police brutality.

The recommendations were made in a report by the nine-member panel, which was submitted to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, six months after the EndSARS protests in October last year.

In reaching the decisions, the Chairman of the Panel, retired Justice SALISU ADESOLA SIDIQ said they received a total of seventy-seven petitions.

In his response; Governor Akeredolu agreed that the EndSARS protest was a genuine action, which he said was later hijacked by hoodlums who went about causing destruction.

However; Governor Akeredolu observed that insecurity has worsened across Nigeria despite the EndSARS that shook most parts of Nigeria.

He thanked members of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality and other Related Matters for their hard work and openness.
