Petrol distribution crisis worsens, as NUPENG endorses strike by tanker drivers

The crisis in the distribution of petrol continues to linger around Lagos State, as many filling stations remain closed.

A few of the petrol filling stations that have products to sell also continue to record a high number of motorists, with queues of vehicles obstructing traffic on major roads.

Lasgidi FM’s Azuka Onwuzor, monitored the situation around Mushin where he spoke with some commercial transporters who complained about the slow speed of government in tackling the problem.

Also, some commuters who spoke with our man said they were not happy with the petrol scarcity, adding that the high cost of transportation was becoming unbearable for them.

At one of the petrol filling stations visited by our man, the manager, Nurudeen Shola Ola, said the scarcity has forced many people to park their vehicles.

Our correspondent Najite Atirene was also around the Gbabada area of Lagos and spoke with some motorist who complain that the price of petrol has gone up due to the scarcity.

Meanwhile; the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas has endorsed a planned strike by Petroleum Tanker Drivers.

NUPENG alleged that six hundred and twenty-one billion naira from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company for the repair of twenty-one roads had been diverted.

The position of NUPENG was contained in a statement jointly signed by its President, Williams Akporeha, and General Secretary, Olawale Afolabi.
