The Delta State Police Command is investigating the killing of the driver and a police escort of an APC chieftain, Michael Johnny.
Reports say gunmen opened fire and gunned down the men at the Airport Junction in Effurun at about 11:12am on Sunday.
The spokesman for the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, said they were yet to determine whether it was assassination.
Bright Edafe also said the police cannot confirm at the moment whether the APC chieftain from Gbaramatu Kingdom was the target of the attack.
