Police Service Commission expresses over Southerner’s refusal to join police

The Police Service Commission has expressed worry that people from the Southern part of Nigeria are not showing interest in the ongoing recruitment of constables into the Nigeria Police Force.

Following the development, the Commission has sent out its senior officials, including commissioners, from the Southern states to mobilise candidates from their regions to for the ongoing police recruitment.

The Head of Media and Public Relations of the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, told Lasgidi FM News Desk that the Chairman of the Commission and former Inspector General of Police, Musiliu Smith, is leading the campaign in the South-West.

Meanwhile; the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has promised that the recruitment of police constables will follow all entry requirements.

I.G.P. Baba gave the assurance in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mbah, as the recruitment exercise enters the stage for physical and credential screening.

He said that officials that are taking part in the recruitment have been directed to ensure that all applicants are allowed to participate and to recommend suitable candidates in a transparent and fair manner.

The Force spokesman further noted that the screening exercise across the thirty-six states and Abuja was being done together with the Police Service Commission.
