The Nigerian Senate has received a formal request from President Muhammadu Buharu for the confirmation of five former service chiefs for appointment as ambassadors.
The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, read the letter from President Buhari to members of the Senate, as the National Assembly resumed sitting today.
The Senate President also said that President Buhari sent another request for the confirmation of the appointment of a new Chief of Defence Staff and other service chiefs.
Meanwhile; the Senate has adjourned plenary in honour of a former member of the House of Representatives, Ossy Prestige, who died recently.
Before voting on the adjournment; the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, said he was shocked and saddened by the death of the former PDP lawmaker for Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency.
