President Buhari will work from London; Garba Shehu

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari did not travel to London under a medical emergency.

Garba Shehu said President BUHARI left the country strong and health for a routine medical checkup as advised by his doctors in the United Kingdom.

Shehu also said President BUHARI’s regular visit to the UK on health grounds should not be seen as engaging in medical tourism.

The Presidential spokesman made the comments while answering questions on a television programme monitored in Lagos last night.

The Presidential spokesman also explained why President Buhari did not have to transmit power to the Vice President.

Garba Shehu said the Constitutional provision requires the President to transmit power if was going to be away for more than twenty-one days.

Shehu also said that President BUHARI would continue to discharge the functions of his office from London.
