Reps rejects spending of recovered Ibori loot

The House of Representatives has rejected the plan by the Federal Government to spend the four-point-two million pounds recovered from people linked to former Delta State governor, James Ibori, in the United Kingdom.

The Green Chamber of the National Assembly says it wants to investigate how the government reached the deal with the UK government for the return of the money.

However; federal lawmakers from Delta State have demanded that the recovered loot should be returned to their state, where Ibori is alleged to have looted the treasury while serving as governor from 1999 to 2007.

Recall that the Federal Government, had through the Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, announced that the recovered loot would be spent on the Second Niger Bridge, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and the Abuja-Kano rail projects.
