Senate approves 6 new law school campuses

The Senate have passed a bill that seeks to increase the number campuses of the Nigerian Law School from six to twelve.

According to the Bill, which was sponsored by Senator Smart Adeyemi of Kogi West, each geopolitical zone of the country is expected to have two law school campuses.

The passage of the bill followed the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.

The Senate during plenary confirmed the nomination of Professor Ayo Omotayo for appointment as Director General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, Plateau State.

The upper chamber also considered President Muhammadu Buhari’s request for the confirmation of Emily Chidinma Osuji as Executive Director of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation.

The motion was moved by the Senate Leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, after which the nomination was referred to the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Financial Institutions, which is to report back within two weeks.
