Senate convenes regional public hearings on constitution amendment

The Nigerian Senate has called for public participation in zonal public hearings on proposed amendments of the constitution.

Deputy Senate President and Chairman of the Constitution Amendment Committee, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, made the announcement in a statement.

Senator Omo-Agege said the two-day public hearings will hold in two locations in each of the six geopolitical zones at the same time on May 26 and May 27, 2021.

Omo-Agege further noted that the public hearing will covers seventeen issues of concern to Nigerians, including restructuring, electoral reforms, and constitutional roles for traditional leaders.
