Speaker intervenes in Resident Doctors strike, protest by legislative aides 

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has promised that the National Assembly will look into issues of unpaid entitlement of aides of federal lawmakers.

Speaker Gbajabiamila made the promise when he addressed members of the parliamentary aides when the staged a protest at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.

In another development, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has held a meeting with the leadership of the National Association of Resident Doctors as part of efforts to take care of all pending issues involved in the strike by the resident doctors.

Recall that the Resident Doctors suspended their strike over the weekend, but also threatened to resume the industrial action in four weeks, if the federal government failed to meet the agreement reached with them.

During the meeting; Speaker Gbajabiamila assured the Resident Doctors that all of their demands would be met by the government.

On his part; the National President of NARD, Doctor Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, listed some of the things that were already being done by the government to meet their demands.

These include payment of salaries of House Officers, while meetings are being held on the demand for an increase of the hazard allowance of Resident Doctors from five thousand naira.
