Spectators barred from Tokyo Olympic games venues

Organisers of the Tokyo Olympic Games have said that people will not be allowed into the venues to watch the competition live.

The move is in reaction to growing concerns and a state of emergency on the Covid-19 pandemic, which is still threatening Japan.

The country’s Olympic Minister, Tamayo Marukawa, announced that most of the Olympic Games will happen behind closed doors.

He said the decision was reached after talks with local and national government officials, as well as the Tokyo Games organisers, and Olympic and Paralympic chiefs.
