Tinubu denies role in shooting of Lekki protesters

Former governor of Lagos State, BOLA TINUBU, says he did not order soldiers to shoot at protesters at the Lekki Phase One Toll Gate on Tuesday night.

The APC national leader who reportedly travelled out of Nigeria hours after the Lekki shooting said he was ready to face an inquiry over the incident.

TINUBU made the denial following strong criticism because of his alleged link to the toll gate company, which he also denies.

TINUBU told a television reporter in a telephone interview that he would never be part of any carnage, just as he condemned the use of live ammunition against the protesters.

He said he was extremely shocked when he heard about the shooting and that he was ready to complain to the highest level.

TINUBU said he had tried to reach the National Security Adviser and the Chief of Army Staff, but yet to call the President at the time of his interview last night.
