Owners of structures that were demolished from the Maza-Maza First Gate to Alakija Third Gate areas of Festac Town in Lagos State have been counting their losses.
Lasgidi FM’s Chukwuemeka Obioma visited that area and spoke with some traders at the Agboju market whose shops were affected.
The traders said they were given seven-day notice about the plan to demolish the market, but the bulldozers moved in on the fifth day.
When Lasgidi FM News Desk contacted officials at the Amuwo Odofin Local Government council, the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Adejuwon Abayomi said the demolition was done by officials of the Federal Housing Authority.
Meanwhile; the Federal Housing Authority is yet to comment on the matter, as effort by Lasgidi FM News Desk to speak with the officials was not successful.
However; an estate developer in the area, Gilbert Okereke, said with the demolition of illegal structures within the Festac Town Green Zone, the real owners would take possession of their land for development.
