US gets first black female Supreme Court Judge

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has become the first black woman to serve in the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

Reports say the US Senate voted fifty-three to forty-seven to confirm President Joe Biden’s appointment of Judge Jackson.

The vote was overseen by Vice-President Kamala Harris who is the first black woman to hold the office.

Justice Jackson’s appointment fulfils President Joe Biden’s campaign promise to put a black woman on the court.
