Uzodinma sacks 8 commissioners in Imo state cabinet shakeup

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has made a major adjustment in the State Executive Council, as he marks his first year in office.

Reports from the state capital, Owerri, say Governor Uzodinma sacked eight, and retained twenty of his commissioners.

Those who were sacked are the commissioners of Health, Youth and Sports, Tourism, Information and Strategy, Woman Affairs, Works, Finance and Technology.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nwachuku Oguwike, confirmed the sack of the commissioners to newsmen.

The latest changes come one month after Governor Uzodinma reshuffled his cabinet, and appointed new Commissioners for Finance and Health.

However; the Governor was quoted in reports two weeks ago, purportedly saying that some of his commissioners were working against his administration.

Imo State has been at the centre of the gun violence targeted at security formation in the South-East Geopolitical Zone, and the confrontation between the security agencies and members of the Eastern Security Network.
