Wike warns of partisan plot in constitution review

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has raised an alarm about an alleged plot by some politicians to use the proposed amendment of the 1999 Constitution to manipulate the election process.

Governor Wike alleged that those behind the plot intend to transfer the power to set up Election Petition Appeal Panels to the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Wike has, therefore, called on members of the National Assembly to put aside party consideration and personal gains and work in the interest of Nigerians.

The Governor shared his views when members of the Senate Sub-committee on Constitutional Amendment for the South-South paid him a visit at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

He called for the creation of an additional state in the South East geopolitical zone in order to correct the current imbalance in the six geopolitical zones.
