9 candidates for Anambra guber calls for release of Nnamdi Kanu

The people of Anambra State will on Saturday, which is three days from today, file out to vote in a governorship election.

However; security remains a major challenge to the conduct of the election, due to the agitation by pro-Biafra groups in the South-East.

Nine of the governorship candidates have raised their voice in demanding for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, as a step to reduce tension and ensure a smooth conduct of the election.

They governorship candidates also called on the Federal Government to reduce the military presence in the South-East Geopolitical Zone for normalcy to return to the area.

The position of the candidates was contained in a joint statement signed by Ben Etiaba of the Action Alliance; Charles Soludo of APGA; Obinna Uzoh of SDP; and Akachukwu Nwankpo of ADC.

Others are Onyejegbu Okwudili of APM; Senator Ifeanyi Uba of YPP; Senator Andy Uba of APC; Nnamdi Nnawuo of PRP; and Obiora Okonkwo of the ZLP.

Recall also that the PDP candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, had during the governorship debate on Monday, also called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu to reduce tension in Anambra and the entire South-East before the election on Saturday.
